The Board of Court Reporting was created by the Judicial Council of Georgia to define and regulate the practice of court reporting in Georgia (O.C.G.A. § 15-14-24).
The administrative and staff work of the Board of Court Reporting is among many of the duties of the Administrative Office of the Courts. The director of the Administrative Office of the Courts or a designee shall serve as secretary of the Board and shall perform all duties assigned by either the Board of Court Reporting or the Judicial Council of Georgia.
The Board of Court Reporting issues two types of professional certificates to more than 1100 court reporters and registers over 125 court reporting firms doing business in Georgia. The Board process applications, administer examinations, and when necessary, may discipline, suspend, or revoke the certificates of court reporters for professional misconduct.
The Board of Court Reporting and staff are located at 244 Washington Street, S.W., Suite 300, Atlanta, GA 30334. Applications and payments by check, money order, or cashier’s check may be mailed to that address. Staff will not process any payments made by cash.
